The main thing about poetry is that it can be about anything at all.

When a beginner you can begin by having fun and writing things that make you laugh.

Try it out with friends and make it something to remember.

Why not try writing a line each so that it is all of your work and it makes it much more fun.
It's the quickest way to writing poems.

Just think of things to rhyme and put them together as rhyming couplets.
If you find you have a lot of them then try putting them into an order, you'll soon have a poem with lots of verses.

Just remember to write them all down otherwise you may forget them.

Why not try writing them in different forms,

eg; lymericks, haikus, or freeverse.

Aso why not use different devices in them,

eg; similes, metaphors, personification, alliteration, and even repetition.
